About
I believe that education - through reading, active learning, community engagement, and researching the past - leads to a better understanding of the diversity in our society. I remain dedicated to working in education, whether in the traditional classroom setting or in a broader context.
Biography
After following my academic passions which led me to New Orleans, Louisiana; Paris, France; Charlottesville, Virgnia; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I am happy to have settled back home in Boulder, Colorado.
I studied in France in college where I discovered my passionate interest in History. I graduated with degrees in French and History from Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I attended the University of Virginia where I honed my research and academic skills, having received my PhD in Modern European History with a focus in Modern French History.
Landing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I spent sixteen years teaching at Point Park University, a small liberal arts school located downtown which houses a top tier Conservatory of Performing Arts. During my tenure at Point Park I had the opportunity to teach traditional history, cultural studies, and gender courses.

Collector:
As a kid I was a Barbie fanatic. While I no longer continue to collect the dolls, I have a large collection that I see as a great way to think about American culture, materialism, and gender identity.
From time to time I take dolls out of my collection and write about them:
